About This Work
Pyramid Stage, right before Coldplay closed the night. The brief I set myself was to celebrate the power of one and put Simz at the centre of it. Motorbike helmets. An army of identical, faceless, mirrored bodies moving as one unit, school tailoring against black armour, with a mirrored plinth throwing the crowd's energy straight back at them. I used fewer dancers than anyone expects at that scale. Add more bodies and you get a routine. Keep it tight and every formation lands like a knockout blow, timed to the live DJ and built around Simz' cadence instead of on top of it. In front of 100,000 people and five million more on TV, the clearest image is the most memorable one. And memorable wins. Watch the full show below.
